LAHORE: Blazing batting by Hashim Amla and Thisara Perera lead World XI to victory by seven wickets against Pakistan in the second T20 match of the Independence Cup at Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday. World XI required 175 runs to win the match, which they scored with one ball to spare, to set the series so far at 1-1 but with one more match to go.
Perera was Man of the Match.
Opening batsman Amla, from South Africa, scored a devastating 72 runs off 55 balls, hitting five boundaries and two sixes. Perera made 47 off 19 balls. The Sri Lankan batsman smashed five sixes, including the winning stroke.
Opening players Amla and Tamim Iqbal put Pakistani bowlers on the back foot but Pakistan got a breakthrough with a catch from Shoaib Malik, dismissing Tamim 23 (19) on a delivery from fast bowler Sohail Khan.
