ISTANBUL: Turkey on Thursday reaffirmed support for ‘Syria’s territorial integrity’ and stability at a meeting between the Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin and Syria’s new government headed by President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
The Daily Sabah newspaper reported that Syria’s sovereignty, political stability and social peace took centre stage and Turkey reiterated its support for Syria, particularly in countering internal and external threats.
Counterterrorism efforts against the Daesh terrorist group were also discussed, as well as strengthening Syria’s institutional capacity, enhancing border security and customs management, improving economic conditions, and ‘ensuring the voluntary and safe return of Syrian refugees.’
