SHEIKHUPURA, (Pakistan): Chairman of Human Liberation Commission of Pakistan Mr. Aslam Pervaiz Sahotra visited Village Mazang Nawabad in Sharqpur, District Sheikhupura the other day, accompanied by his wife Rozy Sahotra and by HLCP National Director Aman Aslam Sahotra, Aftab Gill and Murad Sarwar Rajput.
Village Mazang Nawabad saw 100 Christians ‑ including women and children – evicted by local landlords on 07-06-2020 and all their household items and livestock robbed. The Human Liberation Commission of Pakistan managed to rehabilitate most of them on 11 September 2020.
On his arrival at the village, Mr. Sahotra delivered a Christian sermon to the congregation, followed by prayers and the distribution of bags of food by the HLCP to the poor affected families.
Mr. Sahotra’s HLCP team including Aman Aslam Sahotra and others subsequently visited the homes of each affected family separately, corroborating that the victims were indeed suffering abject poverty, lacking cooking utensils and beds as the looted household items had not been recovered by the police from the accused till date.
Mr. Sahotra and his team told NewsroomPakistan that the people lacked their only source of livelihood, which was raising cattle, because the police had hitherto been unable to recover these from the landlords who had plundered their livestock when they drove them out of the village.
Some of the victims had taken the fields of these landlords on contract and planted vegetables and grain crops on them. This source of livelihood too was no longer available since these landlords were no longer willing to give them their land on contract.
The HLCP reported that the landlords were harassing the Christians to drive them from their homes.
