LAHORE: A group of Islamic clerics allegedly from the Jamiat Ahle Hadith, attacked Samaa Television reporter Sidra Ghayas, her brother and tv crew from the channel in a road rage incident in the Punjab province’s capital city Lahore.

Sidra Ghayas was beaten up by the mullahs near Firdous Market, when the Tv team motioned the clerics’ vehicle to let the tv crew pass. The mullahs’ driver lost his temper, seemingly enraged by the idea of a ‘mere woman’ daring to ask for the right of passage.

Sidra reported that 6 assailants began kicking the Tv crew’s car, slapping her brother, herself and two crew members.

Sidra said the attackers threatened her, saying they were the police, but the police she called several times on the emergency helpline failed to reach the crime scene, however camera footage allegedly shows Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith leader Allama Zubair Ahmad Zaheer among the attackers, encouraging the attack on the Tv team.
