LAHORE: Pakistani international cricketer Nasir Jamshed has been sentenced to 17 months in prison for involvement in match fixing in T20 tournaments in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The British National Crime Agency (NCA) said in a statement the other day that the 33-year-old Pakistani cricketer and British nationals Yousef Anwar and Mohammed Ijaz were sentenced after the trio admitted to ‘fixing’ in the 2016 Bangladesh Premier League games.

Nasir was previously banned by in 2018 for spot-fixing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in 2017.

After Nasir’s shenanigans in 2016, CCTV recorded Yousef Anwar purchasing 28 different coloured bat handle grips in St. Albans, to be used by the players in the PSL as ‘fixing’ signals, NCA revealed.
