ISLAMABAD: U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad visited Pakistan’s capital city Islamabad the other day to meet Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and other government officials to discuss U.S. efforts to facilitate a political settlement of the war in Afghanistan.
Ambassador Khalilzad welcomed Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to support a reduction in violence to foster a U.S.-Taliban agreement, intra-Afghan negotiations, as well as a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in support of a sustainable peace.
