ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting of his economic team on Saturday, which informed him that his economic policies were heading in a positive direction and that the trade deficit had decreased whereas exports and tax collection had risen.
Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasised that economic stability and facilitating the business community were the top priority of the government. He called for out-of-the-box solutions and proposals to improve the economy, as well as consultations with all stakeholders in order to start implementing the suggestions.
Imran Khan said propaganda against the economy should be rebutted with complete facts so that people have a clear picture of the past situation and current improvements.
Imran Khan said that promotion of small and medium enterprises was among the priorities of the government. He said special attention should be paid to reviving sick units that were closed due to mismanagement and financial problems of the past. For this, he said, the CIRC had an important role to play in improving coordination between all stakeholders including National Bank, State Bank and other institutions to devise a course of action for the revival.
