- —Takes a swing at Iran too

NEW YORK: US President Donald Trump told the UN General Assembly on Tuesday that America would destroy North Korea if forced to defend itself or its allies, mocking North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un in his debut speech, calling him “Rocket man” an saying that he was on a suicide mission.
North Korea has tested nuclear bombs and missiles in defiance of the UN.
Just before Mr Trump spoke, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres had urged statesmanship, saying: “We must not sleepwalk our way into war,” but that seemed to have fallen on deaf Trump ears.
The American leader also attacked Iran, saying it was a “corrupt dictatorship” intent on destabilising the Middle East. He “urged” the Iranian government to cease supporting terrorism and criticised his predecessor Obama’s agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme, which he called an embarrassment.
