KABUL:Mesherano Jirga (House of Elders or Senate) members on Sunday demanded President Ashraf Ghani highlight what they see as Pakistan’s support for terrorism, in the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting.
According to the Afghan News Agency Pajhwok, Afghan President Ghani will be in New York to attend the 70th UNGA meeting and to meet his US counterpart Donald Trump. Ghani left Kabul on Sunday for Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, to attend the inaugural ceremony of the Asian Games, to leave there for New York.
Other sources say lawmaker Lailuma Ahmadi hoped the president would draw more support from the international community for Afghanistan and equipment for the Afghan forces, while he and others hoped President Ghani would take a decisive position against Pakistan.
The Senate Chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar went so far as to urge Ghani to “expose Pakistan’s real face” at the global forum and at bilateral meetings with world leaders in New York.
